Bawden Tree Care completes a large tree survey in Winchester for the Ministry of Defence

As part of a five-year contract with the MoD that Bawden Tree Care is a part of, our lovely tree surveyors here at Bawden Tree Care provide detailed tree surveys of tree stock located in and around Winchester, Hampshire. The locations include Erskine Road, Peninsula Barracks, Winchester, Sir John Moore Barracks and Worthy Down Barracks, HQ for the Adjudant General's Corp.

We initially completed a thorough survey of the entire tree stock from all sites, consisting of almost 1,000 individual trees and a large number of identifiable tree groups.  All of these trees were plotted using Pear Technology software, and were individually numbered so that the client had a complete record of each specimen's location.  The written report accompanying these plans gave salient details regarding each tree's dimensions, health, risk weighting, longevity and recommendations for further monitoring, maintenance or complete removal.

In subsequent years 2 - 5 of our tree surveyors re-visited the sites and inspected the trees looking for signs of deterioration in condition, and to ascertain whether earlier maintenance recommendations had been followed up.

The larger of the sites were home to a wide variety of tree specimens, these included; Beech (Fagus sylvatica), Silver Birch (Betula pendula), Wild Cherry (Prunus avium), Lime (Tillia europeans), and Horse Chestnut ( Aesculus hippocastanum).

In addition to these arboricultural surveys in Hampshire, the Bawden Tree Care's tree surveyors have completed detailed inventories and arboricultural reports on numerous Army, RAF and Ministry of Defence estate land across the South of England, including London.
